The voters also voiced their concerns over the poor outcomes of the combat against corruption and wastefulness, the country’s high rate of government debt, weaknesses in the law-making process as well as challenges for environment, water resource security and cyber security.
They hoped that NA deputies would immediately implement the action programs that they promised at the first session of the 14th NA.
On behalf of the NA deputies delegation, State President Tran Dai Quang thanked the voters for their sentiments and spoke highly of their constructive opinions. He noted that several important achievements have been obtained in the fight against corruption and wastefulness, leading to positive changes in society, raising Party members’ and people’s awareness of fighting corruption and wastefulness. However, the State President admitted that the combat against corruption and wastefulness has not been as successful as expected, saying that to eliminate corruption and wastefulness, all people must say no to corruption and wastefulness.
“All cadres and Party members must be good examples in the resolute combat against corruption and wastefulness while strictly observing laws and regulations”, the State President emphasized. “To meet this end, we need anti-corruption officials with firm political stance, high determination, and free from pressure from any individuals and organizations.”
Underscoring that it is a difficult struggle, the State President assured that as the State President and Head of the Party Central Committee’s Steering Board of Judiciary Reform, he would do his utmost to prevent corruption and wastefulness.
Regarding the government debt, the State leader stressed it is the country’s leading concern and noted higher government debt over the past years showed the ineffective debt management. Thus, to control government debt, it is necessary to draw up a good measurement system to precisely assess the safe level of the debt, exactly forecast government debt risks and effectively use loans, development investment capital and inflation in the 2016-2021 period.
The State President also acknowledged voters’ concerns over food hygiene and safety, which are closely related to social safety and national security. He admitted that competent agencies have almost failed to control food hygiene and safety and that part of the failure has come from overlapped responsibilities and loose coordination among involved agencies and forces.
Regarding water resource security, environment pollution and cyber security, the State President believed that lessons should be drawn from recent incidents by all-level managers to avoid environmental disasters, water shortage and cyber attacks, affecting social safety and security and local people’s lives.
