PANO - Quang Nam (Vietnam) and Sekong (Laos) Provinces held the 7th meeting on August 3rd to review their planting markers along the Vietnam-Laos border in the localities as well as develop some main tasks in the time to come.
For the first six months of 2012, the two provinces’ relevant units completed planting 17 landmarks, bringing the number of markers to 56 out of 60 between the two provinces’ border.
Athough the remainder is located on complicated terrains and rainy reason is coming, the two provinces are determined to work together to overcome current difficulties, including bad weather, to complete the 4 landmarks before September 2012, and then hand them over to Vietnam-Laos border guards for management and protection.
Addressing the ceremony, Colonel Le Thanh Tung, Commander of the Quang Nam Border Guards and Deputy-Chief of the Quang Nam Border Demarcation and Marker Planting Steering Board, asked the relevant units should heighten solidarity and friendship between the two countries to accelerate construction of the 4 remaining markers as well as upgrade the national marker system along the two sides’ border.
