PANO – A ceremony to confer the title “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” on the former Central Office for South Vietnam’s Information and Training Board took place in Ho Chi Minh City on April 15th.

On November 23rd 1961, the Central Office for South Vietnam established its Information and Training Board.

During the American resistance war, the board actively disseminated information, strengthened troops’ political stance, and encouraged local people to be persistent in the fight for national liberation and reunification. About 550 cadres and soldiers of the unit laid down and many others were conferred with certificates of merit by the Party and State.

Addressing the ceremony, Politburo Member Le Hong Anh highlighted the invaluable contributions of the board to the country and urged the board’s former staff to continue upholding their traditions to further contribute to the cause of national construction and defence.

Authorized by the State President, Mr. Le Hong Anh conferred the title on the board.
