PANO – 200 high school students in Northern regions participated in the 2013 national science and technology competition in Hanoi on March 30th.

The competition organized by the Ministry of Education and Training is to encourage students to study science and technology and to apply the acquired knowledge into reality. It is also a good chance for contestants to get together and exchange their research results.

During the event, students should present their entries and answer the jury board’s questions in English.

Similar contest took place in the South between March 19th and 21st with the participation of 108 candidates.

The winners would join the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF) in the US this May.

Last year, three students from Hanoi-based Amsterdam Gifted High School pocketed the first prize at the Intel ISEF 2012 in the US for their project of “Creating Fresh Water for Domestic Use from Sea Water under Vacuum Technology and Solar Power”. They are the first Vietnamese to win such a highest position.
