According to the MoU, NPA pledged to provide technical and financial support for VNMAC to implement technical survey projects related to UXO/Landmine clearance in Vietnam, such as applying pilot survey processes to affected areas, safety measures for people and equipment during the projects, and locating UXO-affected areas, to name but a few.
At the event, Dr. Tran Hong Minh, Deputy Chief of the Standing Office under Committee 504, said that the agreement aims to mobilize overseas resources to join hands with the Vietnamese government to overcome the consequences of UXO/landmines in Vietnam, and raise the public's awareness of the UXO/landmine clearance.
For its part, NPA will provide consultancy and share experience with Vietnam in dealing with the consequences of bombs and mines. It agreed with the Vietnamese center to invite domestic and overseas specialists to take part in the projects.
The project will be implemented in Thua Thien Hue province until December 31st, 2016.
