The ninth “Meet Vietnam”, which is underway in the central province of Binh Dinh with a series of important events, is considered an ideal chance for young Vietnamese scientists to meet and learn about each other’s experience in scientific research.
Four international conferences and a number of training courses have drawn over 200 scientists, including five Nobel laureates and Vietnamese mathematician Ngo Bao Chau.
More than one half of the participants are young Vietnamese scientists studying inside and outside the country.

Prof. Tran Thanh Van, Chairman of the Association Rencontres du Vietnam, said the highlights of the event are the opening of the International Centre for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE) and an international scientific conference addressed by world famous scientists.
Every year from now, the centre will host six or seven international conferences, creating opportunities for youngsters who love science, he added.
Phan Hong Khiem, a research student from the southern province of Binh Duong who is pursuing a PhD degree at KEK-JAPAN University, said the event has offered young Vietnamese scientists a chance to meet and hear mankind’s latest scientific achievements from top international scientists.
On this occasion, Prof. Ngo Bao Chau, Director of the Institute for Advanced Study Mathematics, met with 1,000 students at Quy Nhon University to share his studying experience as well as ways to approach scholarships.
During the 6-day event, which began on August 12, attending Nobel laureates and other eminent scientists will also visit several universities in Hanoi to talk with students and lecturers, inspiring passion for science.
