Lawmakers debate transformation of Thua Thien Hue into centrally-run city
The 15th National Assembly's 8th session continued its work in Hanoi on October 31 where discussions on the turning of the Central province of Thua Thien Hue into a centrally-run city took the focus.
Minister of Home Affairs Pham Thi Thanh Tra said this transformation will lay the groundwork for a new urban governance model. This shift aims to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of State management while improving the living standards of residents.
By 2030, Thua Thien Hue is envisioned to become a distinctive cultural, tourism, and specialized healthcare hub in Southeast Asia, and a national hub for sci-tech and quality, multidisciplinary education and training, in line with the Politburo's Resolution 54-NQ/TW.
During the review process, several key opinions suggested the provincial authorities come up with plans to navigate potential obstacles. These include developing a State management model linked with urban governance, adapting to changes in social and occupational structures to tackle employment concerns, improving the quality of urban life, and issuing innovative policies in sci-tech for green development. Additionally, there was a focus on elevating socio-economic development levels in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.
In afternoon the same day, the N.A. will deliberate and approve a draft law amending and supplementing several articles of the Law on Health Insurance.
This law, which has been in effect for 15 years, has achieved remarkable success, with 93.3 million people, or 93.35% of the population, now covered by health insurance.
