Lao Deputy Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith presented the Freedom Order (Itsala), first class to the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training at a ceremony in Hanoi on March 10.

Speaking at the award ceremony, the Lao Deputy PM affirmed that the conferment was made in recognition of great contributions by generations of Vietnamese educational workers to strengthening and developing the two countries’ special friendship, comprehensive cooperation in general and to personnel training for Laos in particular.

Over the past three decades, tens of thousands of Lao students have received training in Vietnam and many of them then went on to hold key positions in the Lao Government.
