PANO – Kon Tum province on December 18th handed over and bestowed the State’s honoured title of “Heroic Vietnamese Mother” to 22 local women. Among them, only mothers Y Tria from Tu Mo Rong district and Nguyen Thi Huong from Kon Tum city, are still alive.
At the ceremony, Deputy Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Lai Xuan Lam expressed deep gratitude to the great sacrifice and contributions of the Vietnamese mothers whose sons served the country.
The provincial authorities also held a meeting with retired senior officers in the locality prior to the 71st founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army. The participants recalled the glorious tradition of 71 years of construction, combat, and development of the People’s Army, and the fighting tradition of local troops and people.
The delegates also affirmed that over the past years, troops of the provincial armed force have effectively promoted the tradition to build strong units. The armed force has successfully carried out security-defence missions and staff work for local party committees and authorities. Army units have been active in helping locals develop domestic economies, eliminate hunger and reduce poverty, contributing to ensuring political security and social order.
