Trinh Hoang Nam has won the Cambridge English Speaking Competition in Vietnam and took a berth to the contest in Asia, scheduled for July in London.
After surpassing eight other Vietnamese candidates in Ho Chi Minh City on March 20, Nam will meet competitors from Japan, the Republic Korea, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and India.
This is the third time the contest has been held for candidates under 25 by Cambridge ESOL, an education offshoot of the UK’s Cambridge University.
Launched in Vietnam last year, the contest attracted more than 2,000 candidates nationwide who competed in four language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) based on the First Certificate in English (FCE) program.
Winners will receive an MBA scholarship in London, a Diploma in Business scholarship in Australia and others prizes.
