PANO – Representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Hai Phong City People’s Committee and thousands of people on March 30th released 220,000 breeding fish into the sea, and took part in a whale worship ceremony in the city’s Cat Hai Island district.
The activities aim to mark 55 years since Uncle Ho visited the Cat Hai fishing village on March 31st, 1959, and the traditional day of Vietnam’s aquaculture industry.
The whale worship ceremony is to pay gratitude to the sea, as well as show people’s aspirations and wishes for safety and an abundant fish catch, while the fish release aims to protect and promote aquatic resources.
On the occasion, Cat Hai Island district opened an aquaculture fair and organized a camping festival for local youths.
