Ho Chi Minh’s thoughts and moral example have been a driving force behind the country’s revolutionary cause, which always reminds all Party members and people to study and follow in the new stage of national development and provides fresh impetus for them to bring the 10th Party Congress’ resolutions to life.

A grand meeting was held in Hanoi on February 2 to celebrate the 77th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV).

On this occasion, the CPV Central Committee, the National Assembly, the State President, the Prime Minister, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Hanoi Party Committee launched a “Following President Ho Chi Minh’s moral example” movement.

On November 7, 2006, the CPV Central Committee’s Political Bureau issued Directive No 6 on launching the campaign among the entire Party and people on February 3, 2007.

The campaign aims to pool the concerted efforts of Party members, State employees, youth union members and political and social organisations into building a strong and transparent Party and political system and fulfilling all heavy tasks in the new stage of national development.

Speaking at the meeting, Party leader Nong Duc Manh highlighted the role of the CPV in the struggle for national independence and freedom to bring about a happy and prosperous life for people and described the CPV as a vanguard force of the working class and the Vietnamese nation.

President Ho Chi Minh- the founder, leader and educator of the CPV has left over for the entire Party and people an invaluable and spiritual asset that is his ideology and moral example, Mr Manh emphasised.

Pham Quang Nghi, political member of the Party Central Committee, secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, and head of the Steering Committee for the “Following President Ho Chi Minh’s moral example” movement spoke of five key tasks which the Hanoi Party Committee and people should fulfill well, including making preparations for the traditional Lunar New Year Festival (Tet) and the 12th National Assembly election.

As the first locality to respond to the movement which is of great political significance, Hanoi called on all Party members, soldiers and people to uphold the creative spirit and revolutionary mettle of a heroic city and fulfill all these important talks.

Dang Ngoc Tung, member of the Party Central Committee and president of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour and Vo Xuan Thuong, First Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee delivered speeches on behalf of Vietnamese labourers and youths.
