Leonel Fernando Reyna, President of the Dominican Republic, has expressed his hope that his country and Vietnam will accelerate economic, trade and cultural cooperation.
Mr Reyna made the remarks while receiving Vietnamese ambassador to the Dominican Republic Vu Chi Cong in Santo Domingo following a credentials presentation ceremony on March 13.
The Dominican President said he admired the Vietnamese people’s impressive achievements in the renovation process and applauded the Vietnamese people’s glorious heroic struggle for national independence and reunification.
For his part, Ambassador Cong congratulated the Dominican President and Government for their success in organizing the Rio summit for peace and stability in Latin America on March 7, and said that the Vietnamese Government and people are determined to boost comprehensive ties with the Dominican Republic.
