Previously, the fishing ship went adrift due to an engine failure and was about to sink about 55 nautical miles off the Southeastern part of Phu Quy Island (Binh Thuan province). After receiving the news, the Office of National Committee for Search and Rescue asked the Ministry of National Defense to send Ship CSB 6007, which was on a mission nearby, to rescue the ship and towed it to shore safely.
* On July 14, a barge numbered BV 1098 with 4 men on board hit an unknown vehicle and was about to sink due to its broken stem. After receiving the news, the Ho Chi Minh City's Border Guards and the city's fire police force rushed to the scene and rescued all the four distressed men. The accident is now under investigation.
