The Vietnamese team attending the 2013 Asian Physics Olympiad (APHO) was welcomed home on May 13 following their high-flying performance at the event.

The students brought home two golds, two silvers, one bronze and three certificates of merit.

The two gold medals went to Bui Quang Tu from Hanoi-Amsterdam Gifted High School and Ngo Phi Long from Son La Gifted High School in the northern mountainous province of the same name, both at the 12th grade.

Tran Minh Vu from Hanoi-Amsterdam Gifted High School and Vu Tran Dinh Duy from HCM City-based Le Hong Phong Gifted High School, both at the 12th grade, took silver medals.

The bronze medal was given to My Duy Hoang, a 12th grader of Lam Son Gifted High School in the central province of Thanh Hoa.

Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Vinh Hien praised the students and their teachers for the achievements at the competition.

On this occasion, the students were awarded with presents and certificates of merit by the ministry and the military-run telecommunications group, Viettel.

The 13 Asian Physics Olympiad took place in Indonesia from May 5-12 with the participation of nearly 150 contestants from 20 countries and territories across the world.
