Joining efforts for comprehensive national development
Meeting with the outstanding OVs, representing nearly 1,000 OVs from 40 countries and territories worldwide coming to Vietnam to attend the 2025 Homeland Spring Program, Party General Secretary To Lam highly praised the sentiments and contributions of the OVs to the home country. He expressed his delight at the strong development of the OV community in both quality and quantity, the connection activities of OV businesses, experts, intellectuals’ associations that helped link Vietnamese at home and abroad.

The Party chief highlighted important goals that the country achieved in 2024 despite numerous challenges. They included economic growth, breakthroughs in institutions, human resources development, infrastructure strengthening, external relations, contributing to higher position and prestige of the country internationally, and apparatus restructuring.
Regarding the era of the nation’s rise, Party leader To Lam called for joint efforts of Vietnamese people, including OV communities worldwide. He mentioned the recent Politburo’s resolution 57-NQ/TW on creating breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation, digital transformation with big policies on attracting talents, developing a network of experts and scientists to contribute to key programs and projects for national development.
Keeping minds steady, nurturing will, overcome difficulties
In the evening the same day, addressing the art exchange program under the theme “Vietnam - Rise in new era,” a highlight of the Homeland Spring 2025 taking place at the National Convention Center, State President Luong Cuong welcomed the participation of nearly 1,000 OVs representing some 6 million Vietnamese living, working and studying from all over the world.

He reviewed typical socio-economic achievements of the country over the past year, emphasizing that Vietnam’s economy continued to be a bright spot in the world and the region with GDP reaching over 7%. Vietnam rose to the top 35 world’s top economies, and was listed in the top 20 countries with leading trade scale in the globe, an important link in 19 FTAs, connecting 60 economies worldwide.
The State leader was delighted at and proud of Vietnamese compatriots abroad who kept their minds steady, nurtured their wills and rose for a better life though they struggled against many difficulties and unsafety in some countries with conflicts. He highlighted OVs who confirmed their positions in the host country and OV intellectuals with contribution to positioning Vietnam on the world’s intellectual map. He stressed that that affirmed firmer position of Vietnamese community in international arena.

Given that Vietnam is on the way to enter a new era of development, the State leader hoped that each Vietnamese, whether at home or abroad, would contribute their effort to this great journey of the nation.
Affirming that the Party and State always pay attention to OVs, State President Luong Cuong asked Vietnamese compatriots living overseas continue to stay united, join hands with those at home to carry out the great mission of the nation.
Continuing to contribute ideas to develop the homeland
On the afternoon of January 19, Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man met with outstanding OVs, during which he heard their opinions and ideas to help develop the country.
The N.A. leader called on OV experts, intellectuals, and scientists to contribute their wisdom, experience, knowledge to further build and develop the home country. He hoped for their opinions on policy making, promotion of people-to-people diplomacy, investment in and transferring of technologies and economic development, promotion of national cultural identities and helping the N.A. in its monitoring and making decisions on important issues.
Taking part in the Homeland Spring program for the third time, Harry Tran, an OV in Australia, said that the meeting with the Party, State and N.A. leaders helped him learn more about policies, especially the country’s development orientations in the time to come. He could feel the country’s internal strength as well.

Proud to attend the program for the first time, Do Duc Khoi, Senator, member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Senate of Thailand, member of the Thai-Vietnamese Parliamentarians' Friendship Association and member of the Executive Committee of the Thailand-Vietnam Friendship Association, said that he could feel the closeness between the country’s leaders and the people. He said that the Homeland Spring is the spring for Vietnamese people not only at home and but also in other countries in the world.
In the morning, the OV delegation paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum and laid a wreath at the monument dedicated to heroic martyrs on Bac Son street, Ba Dinh district, Hanoi.
On the occasion, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee (VFFCC) held a ceremony to present certificates of merit of the VFFCC President to eight OV collectives and 18 individuals with outstanding achievements in work towards community and homeland.
