In Bochum city, Germany nearly 300 people from state and city authorities, sponsors and Vietnamese consulate staff to Bonn have taken part in a fund-raising walk “For Vietnam”, in spite of rain.
All proceeds from the walk will be used to assist poor children, Agent Orange and HIV victims in Vietnam.
Overseas Vietnamese, including people of different generations from the same families in Hannover city, 250km away also participated in the walk. All of those who had finished the 10-km track were given by the sponsors 10 euros (210.000 VND). Touchingly, a Germany-born Vietnamese boy handed another 20 euros after walking 8km.
At the end of the event, there were several Vietnamese cultural performances, including traditional beautiful folk music, songs and national costume shows, which surely left a strong impression on German friends.
