At the meeting held in Hanoi, Nguyen Trung Kien, Head of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that the Committee has proposed to relevant authorities that a delegation of overseas Vietnamese participate in the official celebrations of the 80th anniversary. This initiative responds to the aspirations of the overseas Vietnamese community, who wish to take part directly in significant national events. The participation of OV in the event serves to honor and recognize their contributions to the national struggle for independence and the ongoing national socio-economic development.

According to the official, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working closely with relevant agencies to prepare for the delegation's participation, aiming to ensure the success of the celebrations.

At the event, Kien also provided updates on the upcoming training course for overseas teachers of the Vietnamese language, scheduled to take place from August 13 to 28 in Hanoi and several neighboring localities. The program aims to improve the quality of teaching the Vietnamese language abroad by enhancing the pedagogical skills and professional expertise of overseas Vietnamese teachers, using a tailored curriculum. This year’s course will welcome 80 OV teachers from 15 countries and territories.

Also taking place in August, the award ceremony for the “Vietnamese Language Ambassador Abroad” contest is set for August 21 in Hanoi, in conjunction with the “Beloved Vietnamese Language” gala program. Kien emphasized the vital role of these ambassadors, noting that they are exemplary individuals who actively preserve, promote, and spread the use of the Vietnamese language within overseas Vietnamese communities. They also act as cultural bridges, helping to popularize Vietnam and its people to the world.

Kien also informed that a leadership training course for OV community organizations is scheduled to be held from August 28 to 31 in Hanoi.
