On the day, a mission of the Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defense, led by Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Le Chiem, paid homage to fallen soldiers at Po Hen Martyrs' Monument in Mong Cai city of Quang Ninh Province.

In a solemn atmosphere, the mission laid wreaths and offered incense in commemoration of soldiers who laid down their lives on Po Hen Mountain to safeguard national border sovereignty.
On the occasion, the Military Region 3 Command and Dong Bac Corporation presented gifts to 30 policy households in the city.
* In response to the day, Deputy Chief of the General Department of Politics Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Nghia visited and handed over Defense Ministry’s gifts to the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin (VAVA).
During the visit, General Nghia extended wishes of leaders of the Ministry of National Defense and the General Department of Politics to VAVA Central Committee’s heads and personnel and AO victims. He also highlighted the efforts of the association at all levels in protecting and taking care of victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin, encouraging those with disabilities, and mobilizing funds to assist AO victims and people with disabilities.
On the same day, the mission of the General Department of Politics offered incense in tribute to former Politburo member and former Chief of the general department General Chu Huy Man and former member of the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee and former Chief of the general department Senior Lieutenant General Song Hao.

* Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung worked with Quang Nam province on the province’s implementation of policies for wounded soldiers, martyrs, and those who had rendered good service to the nation in the locality over the past time.
At the working session, Dung highlighted the province’s efforts in settling pending documents to identify wounded soldiers, martyrs, and national contributors and taking care of local national contributors.
The Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs requested Quang Nam to promote information dissemination to raise public awareness of the Party’s guidelines and State’s policies for national contributors and their relatives. He also urged the province to issue guidance on settling policies for the people as regulated.
* Deputy Chief of the General Department of Politics Sr. Lt. Gen. Do Can and his entourage offered wreaths and incense in commemoration of martyrs at the A1 National War Cemetery in Dien Bien Phu city, Dien Bien province.
Also, General Can met and presented gifts to policy beneficiaries and national contributors in the locality. At the meeting with local national contributors, Can expressed deep gratitude to the sacrifices of wounded and sick soldiers, martyrs’ families, and revolutionary contributors.
On the occasion, Can visited and encouraged troops of the Dien Bien provincial Military Command and Border Guard Command.
* Meanwhile, a mission of public organizations of Military Hospital 175 of the Ministry of National Defense visited and handed over 20 gifts, worth VND 500,000 each, to wounded soldiers and policy beneficiaries receiving treatment at the hospital. The mission also gave presents to heroic Vietnamese mothers in Go Vap district of Ho Chi Minh City and needy patients at the hospital.
* More than 400 needy people and policy beneficiaries in Loi Thuan and Long Khanh communes of Tay Ninh province’s Ben Cau district have had their health checked by personnel from April 30 Hospital of the Ministry of Public Security and public organizations from Tay Ninh province’s public security force.
On the occasion, participating units presented gifts to 400 revolutionary contributors and those in need and 20 presents and ten bicycles to needy local students who achieved good academic results.
* Also on the day, Youth Union Chapter of the Bac Ninh provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism hosted an artistic program, themed “Youths following heroes’ footsteps,” as part of the activities to pay gratitude to national contributors and policy beneficiaries.
At the program, organizers also presented gifts to national contributors and policy beneficiaries in Luong Tai district.
