At the commemoration ceremony, Colonel Le Anh Son, Political Commissar of Flotilla 11 under the Command, emphasized that the sea and islands comprise a sacred and inseparable part of the Fatherland. They are the blood, will and aspirations of the ancestors, and nobody is allowed to encroach on them illegally. With efforts, sweat and even lives, generations of Vietnamese people have exercised, managed and firmly protected the country's maritime sovereignty.
The officer also said that taking responsibility, generations of Vietnamese fishermen have surmounted challenges, natural disasters and hardships and held onto the sea regardless of day or night and mastered the traditional fishing grounds. However, rough sea and other sea-related risks have claimed many lives of fishermen operating at sea.
