Previously, the trawler with five fishermen on board went adrift due to engine failure caused by a previously-broken propeller about 32 nautical miles off the island.
Upon receiving the mayday alert, the command immediately sent ship CSB 2008 in action, which was nearby the scene, for the rescue mission.
* On the same day, ship SAR 411 of the Vietnam Maritime Rescue Coordination Center promptly saved a distressed fisherman on trawler NA97201-TS at sea.
Earlier, fisherman Pham Van Thao, born in 1970, a native from Quynh Luu district, Nghe An province, got an injury to his right hand while operating the hoist and was bleeding heavily.
After receiving the information, the center sent ship SAR 411 for the rescue mission. The rescuers reached the trawler, gave first aid to the patient, and brought him ashore for further treatment.
