Coast Guard Region 4’s ship provides timely first aid to distressed fisherman
PANO – On September 26, while conducting a patrol against illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing at sea, Ship CSB 4035 of Squadron 422, Flotilla 42, the Coast Guard Region 4 Command promptly assisted a distressed fisherman.
Earlier, at about 12:30 p.m., Ship CSB 4035 received an emergency medical request from Captain Dang Quoc Bao of the fishing ship KG 94861 TS, from Tay Yen commune, An Giang province. His crewman Danh Sang, born in 2005 and residing in Hon Dat commune, An Giang province, had his little finger severed while working.

Upon receiving the information, Ship CSB 4035 approached the fishing vessel, transferred the injured fisherman on board, and provided first aid. The ship’s medical team confirmed the crew-member lost a segment of his little finger, was unable to stop the bleeding himself, and was at high risk of infection. They stopped the bleeding, dressed the wound, and administered painkillers and antibiotics.
After receiving first aid, the victim was conscious and his wound was under control. At 1:30 p.m. the same day, he was returned to fishing ship KG 94861 TS for transport ashore for further treatment.
