Deputy Chief of the General Staff Lieutenant General Huynh Chien Thang made the request while visiting and inspecting Regiment 9’s observance of combat readiness regulations on January 14.
He also requested the unit to overcome shortcomings, continue studying and realizing higher levels’ resolutions and directives, and strictly carry out combat readiness mission in line with the real situation of the locality and the unit and the developments of the pandemic.
The deputy chief of General Staff emphasized that Regiment 9 should accurately evaluate situation to complete its training plan and cooperate with other forces to patrol to ensure security before, during, and after the lunar New Year holidays.

General also requested the unit to cooperate with localities to strictly carry out the enlistment work in 2022 and prepare for the upcoming training season. He also urged the regiment to provide financial support for troops and collectives participating in pandemic prevention and control work during the lunar New Year holidays, grasp troops’ thoughts, and effectively carry out policy and mass mobilization work.
He hoped that the unit will bring into play positive outcomes in training, building regulations, and managing the observance of discipline in COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control.
Last year, the unit presented necessities to troops’ families and people living in the locality where it is stationed, shared troops’ loss of their relatives due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and offered gifts to needy students with good academic results. The regiment worked with localities to provide health examination and third vaccine jabs for troops.
The same day, the mission visited and extended New Year greetings to An Giang-based units, including Team K90, the Military Command of Tri Ton district, and Division 330 of Military Region 9.
Visiting Division 330 and the Military Command of Tri Ton district, Lieutenant General Huynh Chien Thang asked the units to strictly observe combat readiness regulations and closely follow situations in border areas to prevent illegal border crossings, smuggling, and drug trafficking in a timely manner.

While visiting Military Region 9’s Team K90 in charge of martyrs' remains search and collection, the deputy chief of the General Staff praised the team’s efforts in searching and gathering 14 sets of remains of martyrs.
Regarding missions in the coming time, the official asked the unit’s troops to heighten their responsibility and quickly conduct the search and collection of remains of fallen soldiers after receiving information about their burial places.
