The delegation also included Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) and Deputy Defense Minister; Senior Lieutenant Generals Be Xuan Truong and Le Chiem, Deputy Defense Ministers; and Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Phuong Nam, Deputy Chief of the VPA’s General Staff.

At the working session, Hoang Xuan Anh, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, briefed the delegates on local achievements in socio-economic development, defense-security work, and Party building, as well as their targeted tasks in the coming time.

Particularly, the province has paid due attention to building up the whole people's defense and security postures while effectively combining local socio-economic development with defense-security missions.

Cao Bang’s authorities also have actively and proactively directed military units to strictly maintain combat readiness, better their combat plans in line with reality, follow situations along the borderline and major localities, conduct defense-security training courses, hold defensive area exercises, supervise the entrance and exit work, and organize external affairs activities.

Concluding the event, General Lich congratulated Cao Bang province on its outcomes of socio-economic development and defense-security work over the past time and praised local armed forces for making good recommendations to local authorities and Party organizations to roll out military-defense tasks, ensure social order and security, and safeguard national border sovereignty.

The Defense Minister emphasized that the Central Military Commission, Defense Ministry, and Military Region 1 would do their utmost to support the province to develop the economy and consolidate defense-security strength.

General Lich tasked the ministry’s functional agencies and the Military Region 1 Command to effectively assisting Cao Bang province by studying and submitting solutions to the ministry’s leadership for consideration and approval.
