The event was chaired and attended by Defense Minister General Phan Van Giang, Chief of the General Department of Political Affairs General Luong Cuong, and Head of the Central Party Committee’s Commission of Information and Education Nguyen Trong Nghia.
According to a report delivered by Deputy Chief of the General Department of Political Affairs Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet, in 2021 military press agencies closely cooperated with management and press agencies across the country to effectively disseminate military and defense activities to the public.
Under the instruction of the General Department of Political Affairs, agencies and units in the whole military signed coordination programs with press agencies to popularize the implementation of military and defense missions and defense relations activities. Many of them launched columns and programs to disseminate the implementation of resolutions, directives and decisions of higher levels.

Speaking at the event, Head of the Central Party Committee’s Commission of Information and Education Nguyen Trong Nghia highly appreciated press agencies for their contribution over the past time. The Party official expected that they will have more reliable articles and programs on military and defense activities, national protection mission. He urged press agencies to follow orientations on military and defense affairs mentioned in the 13th National Party Congress’s Resolution, especially the national protection strategy in the new period, so as to comprehensively disseminate information to the community.
On behalf of the CMC and the Ministry of National Defense, General Phan Van Giang thanked central organs and press agencies for their support and close coordination in popularizing the implementation of military and defense missions, defense external relations activities, whole people’s defense consolidation, and military building in the new period.

The Defense Minister recalled that central press agencies have had more quality programs and columns on military and defense information, especially the outcomes of projects on streamlining the military. Apart from training and combat readiness missions, they have vividly reflected troops’ efforts in helping people contain the COVID-19 pandemic, mitigating natural disaster consequences, as well as the Vietnamese military’s contribution at bilateral and multilateral forums, its participation in U.N. peacekeeping operations, and settlement of war legacy. They have also cooperated with agencies and units under the Ministry of National Defense to organize various important events, which have been praised by the Party, State, and the Vietnamese people at home and abroad.
According to him, agencies and ministries have closely worked with agencies of the Ministry of National Defense in popularizing the implementation of military and defense missions and military building tasks. In addition, the two sides have effectively combated wrongful viewpoints of hostile forces to protect the image and prestige of the military and Uncle Ho’s soldiers as well as the national construction and defense cause of the Party, military and people.
He affirmed that the effective and timely support and coordination have contributed to encouraging troops to fulfil assigned missions, strengthening military-civilian solidarity, raising the Vietnam People’s Army’s prestige and position, and popularizing the tradition of Uncle Ho’s soldiers in the new period.
Emphasizing important missions of the military in 2022 and the years to come, General Phan Van Giang hoped that Central Party Committee’s Commission of Information and Education, the Ministry of Information and Communications, and central press agencies will continue cooperating with the Ministry of National Defense in dissemination of military and defense missions and defense relations activities. He expected that the two sides will further coordinate in information exchange to provide most reliable information for readers, so as to orient public’s opinion on issues related to military and defense missions and military building and effectively spoil hostile forces’ schemes and tricks with the aim of sabotaging the Party, State and military.
The defense minister asked the Vietnam Television to work with the General Department of Political Affairs to build a plan to popularize the image of Uncle Ho’s soldiers in the new period.
He said that the Ministry of National Defense will continue directing agencies and units in the whole military to create favorable conditions for press agencies across the country to cover military and defense missions, defense relations activities and military building.
