PANO - Lieutenant General Le Chiem, Deputy Minister of National Defense, on December 18 requested troops of the Le Thanh International Border Gate Post to actively keep up with any developments along the border area and conduct more patrols during the coming Lunar New Year festival.
General Chiem, Head of the National Steering Committee on Prevention and Control of Smuggling, Trade Fraud and Fake Commodities (National Steering Committee 389 in short), made that request while inspecting the border post under the Gia Lai provincial Border Guard Command.
Lieutenant General Le Chiem speaking at the meeting
This year, the border post conducted patrols and strictly controlled arrivals of people and vehicles through Le Thanh International Border Gate. It also coordinated closely with relevant forces to well perform import-export management in line with regulations.
At the meeting, General Chiem asked the unit’s troops to thoroughly study higher levels’ instructions and directives and well carry out its missions in preventing and controlling fake commodities and smuggling as well as comprehensively deploy professional measures to fulfil all of assigned missions.
Other missions that the unit should achieve were the improvement of mass mobilization work, cooperation with local authorities and relevant agencies, maintaining friendship and close ties with Cambodian authorities and agencies and enhancing education for its troops to ensure a healthy unit with no violation of regulations.
