At the event, delegates were briefed on the outcomes of the implementation of the border cooperation agreement and the memorandum of understanding (MoU) among the Provincial Border Guard Commands of Quang Binh and Ha Tinh and the Khammouane Provincial Border Guard Command. Accordingly, units actively disseminated information and mobilized people to follow the Vietnam-Laos protocol on borderline and border markers and the Vietnam-Laos Agreement on Border and Border Gate Management Regulations.

In addition, they regularly exchanged information, conducted joint patrols to protect the shared borderline and border markers, and effectively fought cross-border crime, contributing to ensuring political security and social order, as well as firmly safeguarding the national border sovereignty of each side.

From May 2021 to June 2022, the units have collaborated to conduct eight bilateral border patrols.

At the talks, leaders of the units signed numerous cooperation contents such as enhancing information dissemination to raise border people’s awareness of law observance, sharing information on cross-border crime and collaborating to maintain political security and social order in border areas, or protecting the environment.

The units have planned to continue to provide timely recommendations for the local authorities of the twinning localities along the borderline, contributing to tightening the special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos, and building a borderline of peace, stability, cooperation and increasingly development.

* Earlier, the Quang Binh Provincial Border Guard Command signed a memorandum of understanding with the Khammouane Provincial Public Security at a bilateral meeting held in Dong Hoi city.

Also at the event, the two sides exchanged information related to the COVID-19 pandemic, discussed measures to well implement the agreements on border regulations between the two countries and the contents of their signed memorandum of understanding.
