Vietnam, Thailand expand defense cooperation
PANO – Major General Ngo Minh Tien, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, welcomed Major General Yuthakiat Luanpairin, Director of the Policy and Strategy Department under the Thai Defense Ministry’s General Department of Policy and Planning, in Hanoi on March 19.
At the talks, General Tien and General Luanpairin shared the same view that the two countries have enjoyed sound bilateral defense ties, particularly in the fields of delegation exchanges, air force and naval cooperation, information sharing, and personnel training, making contribution to promoting mutual understanding and trust between the two militaries and peoples.

For his part, General Luanpairin thanked Vietnam for supporting Thailand during its ASEAN Chairmanship in 2019 and informed General Tien of the outcomes of his meeting with the Vietnamese Defense Ministry’s Defense Institute for International Relations.
General Tien highly valued the cooperation between the Vietnamese institute and Thai department over the past years and suggested that they should continue to boost their cooperation and actively make recommendations to the leadership of the two defense ministries.
The Vietnamese General affirmed that the Vietnamese Defense Ministry and the VPA’s General Staff would create favorable conditions for the two units to expand their cooperation in the coming time.
