Vietnam and Germany expand defense cooperation
PANO - On behalf of the Ministry of National Defense of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, its Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien signed an agreement with the Federal Ministry of Defense of Germany on defense cooperation on November 10 in Hanoi.
On the same day in Berlin, Mr. Thomas Hitschler, State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Defense of Germany, inked the cooperation agreement.
Ahead of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s Vietnam visit from November 13-14, the signing of the agreement on defense cooperation between Vietnam and Germany lifted the bilateral defense relations to a new height, creating a driving force for further cooperation in exchange of delegations at all levels, sharing strategic issues of mutual concern, training, military medicine, U.N. peacekeeping and other fields.
The signing of the agreement contributed to strengthening the Vietnam - Germany strategic partnership, especially bilateral defense relations in more a substantive and effective manner.
