US officers and Vietnamese artists performed English and Vietnamese songs accompanied by modern and traditional musical instruments.

The exchange began with the song “Welcome to Da Nang” performed by local singers and dancers to greet the US officers.

Later, the two sides charmed the audience with “Hello Vietnam” and “Noi vong tay lon” (The Great Circle of Vietnam) sung in English and Vietnamese, along with many other songs and dances.

Officers of aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson, missile cruiser USS Lake Champlain, and missile destroyer USS Wayne E. Meyer are on a trip to Da Nang from March 5 to 9. This is the first time an aircraft carrier of the US has visited Vietnam since the end of the war in Vietnam over four decades ago.

During the stay, they visited several social welfare centers for the mentally ill, Agent Orange victims, orphans and disadvantaged children.

They also met lecturers of the University of Da Nang to share marine environmental protection measures, visited the fire police division, and exchanged experience in first aid provision and disaster response.
