Vietnamese, US veterans enhance cooperation
PANO – The Vietnam-US Society under the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations held a talk under the theme “Lessons from the past, creating a bright future” in Hanoi on March 6.
The event gathered around 100 participants from the Vietnam-US Society, the Vietnam War Veterans' Association, the Vietnam Association for Victims of Agent Orange/dioxin, the US Veterans for Peace (VFP), and peace activists from the US who are on a visit to Vietnam.

The participants reviewed lessons learnt from the past and discussed measures to further develop the Vietnam-US people-to-people relations.
Meanwhile, Paul Cox, a former US marine stationed in Quang Tri province of Vietnam in 1969-1970, held that he understood the war consequences that both Vietnamese and American people have been suffering from; therefore, Vietnamese and American veterans should join hands to address the aftermath left behind by the war in Vietnam, particularly Agent Orange/dioxin.
During their visit to Vietnam, VFP members will study war consequences in the country, tour some unexploded ordnance displaying sites and Agent Orange/dioxin-polluted areas, meet with local war victims, and visit centers for war victims in Hanoi, Quang Tri, Hue, and Da Nang.
