In the first quarter of this years, four Border Posts of Bat Xat, Lao Cai International Border Gate, Muong Khuong, and Pha Long of Vietnam and Hekou Border Checkpoint for Immigration and Sub-stations of Pasa, Xindian, Laoka, have cooperated to conduct three joint patrols with the participation of hundreds of officers and soldiers from both sides.

The two sides have strictly adhered to and implemented the contents of three legal documents on border matters and bilateral cooperation agreements. They have actively coordinated in disseminating and educating the local population along the borderline about legal documents concerning the border, contributing to enhancing locals’ awareness, promoting economic and social development in border areas, and jointly building a borderline of peace, friendship, cooperation, and development.

The two sides have actively cooperated to effectively resolve various border-related issues;  combat drug trafficking, human trafficking, illegal transportation of goods across the border, theft, illegal immigration, and other law violations at the border gate, contributing to maintaining stability in the border region. They have worked together to address and hand over cases of illegal border exit and entry or residency to each other through the Lao Cai – Hekou International Border Gate to handle as regulated.

At the talks, both sides agreed to continue maintaining and strengthening existing cooperation mechanisms, such as regular meetings, information exchange, liaison officers, hotlines, emergency response at the border, citizen handover, friendship exchanges, and Vietnamese and Chinese friendship ambassadors.

They also agreed to work together on managing vehicles to improve their flow; ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the Jincheng - Beishan Bridge, preventing long stops that could affect the safety of the bridge; and continuing to organize exchange activities, such as training on identifying counterfeit documents to build the Lao Cai International Border Gate (Vietnam) – Hekou (China) into a model for border gate cooperation along the Vietnam-China land border; promoting legal education to further enhance solidarity and friendship and take their collaboration to a new level.

During the event, the two sides awarded the title of "Vietnam-China Friendship Ambassador" in the first quarter of 2025 to two individuals, one from Vietnam and one from China and signed the minutes of the meeting.

Subsequently, the Chinese delegation visited the Border Checkpoint No.2 of the Jincheng International Border Post and several other locations in Lao Cai city.
