Vietnamese and Chinese medical personnel check health of people in Phuc Hoa district, Cao Bang province

This healthcare program is a sideline activity of the Fifth Vietnam-China Border Defense Friendship Exchange.

Charge d'affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam Yin Haihong attended the opening ceremony.

Addressing the event, Senior Colonel Nguyen Xuan Kien, Director of the Military Medical Department, stressed that the joint healthcare program along the shared borderline aims to improve local people’s knowledge of health, and provide free health check-ups and medicines to local ethnic minority people living along the borderline between the two countries.

This also provides an opportunity for the Military Medical Departments of Vietnam and China to exchange and share their experience in healthcare, contributing to promoting bilateral relations, improving professional qualification of the two sides’ military doctors so that they can take better care of troops' and people's health.

Via the program, participants can also understand better the culture, customs, and practices of the people living along the shared borderline, the Vietnamese military officer added.

For his part, Major General Ji Jianhua, Deputy Director of the Logistic Support Department of the Central Military Commission of China, affirmed that the joint healthcare program creates an opportunity for each side to practice a health-logistics combined mission beyond the national boundary for the first time while conducting other extensive on-spot and mobile medical activities.

Expressing his gratitude to the medical personnel of the two countries for their good preparation of the program, Charge d'affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam Yin Haihong believed that the Vietnam-China border will be built into a borderline of peace, stability, cooperation, development, and prosperity.

This year’s joint healthcare program has been divided into two stages. The first stage lasts from August 22 to 24 in Phuc Hoa commune, Cao Bang district, Vietnam while the second stage will be organized from August 26 to 28 in Longzhou district, Chongzuo city, Guangxi, China.
