The visit aims to cement the defense relationship between Vietnam and India.

Speaking at the welcoming ceremony, Captain Atul Deswal conveyed his condolences to the Vietnamese people over the decease of President Tran Dai Quang, saying that India always stands side by side with Vietnam in any circumstances.

During their stay in Vietnam, Indian naval troops will pay courtesy visits to the leadership of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee and Military Region 7. They will also take part in sport and cultural exchange activities with Vietnamese peers.

Members of the Vietnam Youth Union chapter and students of Ho Chi Minh City-based Nguyen Du Secondary School will tour the INS Rana.

INS Rana is a destroyer with a length of 146.5 meters, a width of 15.8 meters and a water-line of 5.8 meter, as well as with modern equipment and weapons.
