Speaking at the event, Lieutenant General Vu Chien Thang, Director of the Department of Foreign Relations, said that the MND promoted both bilateral and multilateral defense cooperation and achieved good outcomes.
To gain these achievements, along with great efforts of the Vietnam People's Army, there was the support and assistance of international friends and partners, including foreign defense attachés, he added.
He hoped that foreign defense attachés in Vietnam continue to make important contributions to promoting defense cooperation between Vietnam and other countries, for peace, friendship, cooperation, and development.
On behalf of the delegation, Lieutenant Colonel Marc Razafindranaly, French defense attaché to Vietnam, thanked the Department of Foreign Relations in particular and the MND in general for the support and cooperation last year.
He also affirmed that foreign defense attachés to Vietnam will support the country and proactively participate in cooperation activities in 2020 when Vietnam holds the position of a non-permanent member of the United Nations (UN) Security Council for 2020-2021 and ASEAN Chairman.
