At the meeting, General Giang welcomed Colonel General Alexander Vasilyevich Fomin and the delegation of the Russian Ministry of Defense to Vietnam to attend the 7th Defense Strategy Dialogue. On this occasion, the Vietnamese Defense Minister extended warm greetings to his Russian counterpart Andrey Removich Belousov through Colonel General Alexander Vasilyevich Fomin.
The Vietnamese defense leader affirmed that the Vietnamese people and People’s Army cherish and appreciate Russia's significant support during Vietnam's struggle for national independence, reunification, and current national construction and defense.
He thanked the Russian Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces for sending delegations to participate in the celebration of the 80th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People's Army, the 35th anniversary of the Whole-People’s Defense Festive Day, and the Vietnam Defense Expo 2024. The participation of leading Russian defense enterprises in the expo significantly contributed to the event's success. Additionally, General Phan Van Giang expressed delight at welcoming the Russian veterans, who supported Vietnam during its struggle for national independence, to important celebration activities.

The host highly valued the outcomes of the 7th Vietnam-Russia Defense Strategy Dialogue. During the event, both sides exchanged views on global and regional issues of mutual concern, reviewed the achievements of defense cooperation, identified key directions for future collaboration, and signed important documents.
He suggested both sides continue advancing defense cooperation in alignment with the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Russia. This collaboration should be based on international laws, Vietnam’s foreign policy, legal framework, and practical conditions. He emphasized the importance of maximizing the effectiveness of existing mechanisms, deepening cooperation among arms and services and units, and reaffirming the role of defense cooperation as a key pillar in bilateral relations.
For his part, Colonel General Alexander Vasilyevich Fomin thanked General Phan Van Giang for the reception and extended greetings from the Russian Defense Minister to his Vietnamese counterpart. He also congratulated the Vietnam People's Army on its 80th founding anniversary.
The guest affirmed that the outcomes of the 7th Vietnam-Russia Defense Strategy Dialogue will further help strengthen and promote the bilateral defense cooperation, maintaining its role as a key pillar in relations between the two countries.
