Coast Guards of Vietnam, India hold joint exercise
The Vietnamese and Indian Coast Guards on October 4 carried out a joint exercise off the Chennai coast, Tamil Nadu state, India.
The Vietnamese Coast Guard ship, CSB 8001, joined in the exercise. Meanwhile, India mobilized three coast guard ships, one Dornier aircraft, one Chetak helicopter, and research vessel Sagar Manjusa from the India’s National Institute of Ocean Technology.
During the exercise, both countries’ coast guards acquainted with each other’s capabilities to enhance coordination in rescue work at sea.
The exercise followed a scenario of the hijacking of an oil ship and subsequent rescue of its crew in the coordinated joint operation of both sides.
Efforts to protect sea environment and fight fire for ships were included in the drill.
