Coast Guard Ship 8004 heads for Korean visit and exchange
PANO - The Coast Guard Region 1 Command held a see-off ceremony on October 27 in Hai Phong for the mission and crew-members on Coast Guard Ship 8004 under Flotilla 11 to visit and exchange with the Korea Coast Guard.

The ceremony saw the presence of Chief of the Coast Guard Region 1 Command Major General Tran Van Tho, and Political Commissar of the Coast Guard Region 1 Command Major General Tran Van Hau.
The visit and exchange aim to promote the friendship, mutual understanding and trust between the Vietnam Coast Guard and the Korean Coast Guard, as well as the two forces’ exchange, cooperation and development.

The Vietnamese mission is captained by Senior Colonel Le Thanh Hai, Second-in-Command of Coast Guard Region 1.
During their stay in the Republic of Korea (RoK), the delegation will pay courtesy calls on leaders of local authorities, the Korea Coast Guard, share experience with the Korea Coast Guard Academy and some units under the Korea Coast Guard. While in the RoK, Vietnamese coast guard troops will have a joint exercise on search and rescue and fire prevention and fighting, sport matches with their peers from the host. They will also visit some cultural attractions in the RoK and join a party engaging the two forces.

Speaking at the see-off ceremony, Gen. Tho said that the visit and exchange are to realize the direction of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense’s leadership on international integration and defense diplomacy, contributing to boosting friendship, mutual understanding and trust, and cooperation between the two coast guard forces. It is also to actualize the memorandum of understanding on the two forces’ cooperation signed in 2007.
The trip serves as a chance to improve command capabilities, mastery of weapons and equipment, and learn from experience in sea-related law enforcement as well. The success of the trip would help confirm the strength, role, and position of the Vietnam Coast Guard force in the region and the world.
