Chief-of-General Staff to attend ACDFIM-15
PANO - A high-ranking delegation of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA), led by Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, Chief-of-the-General Staff and Deputy-Defense Minister, left Hanoi on March 4 for an official visit to Malaysia and the 15th ASEAN Chiefs of Defense Forces Informal Meeting (ACDFIM-15) under the invitation of General Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affandi Bin Raja Mohamed Noor, Chief of the Malaysian Defense Forces.
The visit of VPA’s Chief-of-the-General Staff to Malaysia is to boost cooperation between the two nations’ militaries in the time to come. Meanwhile, Vietnam’s attendance of the ACDFIM-15, themed “Promoting cooperation, building self-reliance”, showed the country’s activeness and responsibility in implementing initiatives within the cooperation framework of ASEAN’s militaries.

According to the schedule, the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation will pay a courtesy visit to the Malaysian Minister of Defense, tour several Malaysian military units, and hold talks with counterparts of the Malaysian Armed Forces to review their cooperation over the past time and work out measures to further ties in the time to come.
Also at the ACDFIM-15, General Giang will deliver a speech on regional security issues, and on measures to enhance cooperation among ASEAN’s militaries in the time to come, and hold bilateral talks within the framework of the meeting.
