PANO – On July 1st, a ceremony to release an issue of the “Vietnam-Portugal” postal stamp collection took place in Quang Nam province, co-held by the Ministries of Information and Communication (MoIC), Foreign Affairs, the Vietnam Post and the Quang Nam provincial People’s Committee.
The collection, on paper sized 43x32mm, was designed by painter To Minh Trang from the Vietnam Post and artists from Portugal. The picture is in the purple and yellow background, imbued with the national identities and cultural values of Vietnam and Portugal.

One of the samples depicts a Vietnamese Chu Dau ceramic vase from the 15th century in the background of a blue sea and panorama of Hoi An ancient town in Quang Nam province. It is being exhibited at the Topkapi Museum in Istanbul, Turkey. The sample had an autograph of artisan Bui Thi Hy.
The second sample illustrates a ceramic plate in the background of a seashore and panorama of ancient Lisbon city of Portugal, which is being exhibited at the Lisbon Museum. Both samples also feature Vietnamese and Portuguese national flags.
According to Deputy Minister of the MoIC Nguyen Minh Hong, the release of the stamp collection was part of activities to celebrate 500 years of Vietnam – Portugal trade as well as marked cooperation between the two countries’ postal agencies, making contribution to strengthening the relationship between Vietnam and Portugal.
The stamp collection will be issued in 192 countries and territories who are members of the Universal Portal Union, and other nations worldwide.
