The successful hosting of the AIPA-41 demonstrated the high determination and efforts of the host and AIPA members to overcome difficulties and enhance unity and cooperation in the “cohesive and responsive” spirit. The Vietnamese N.A.’s success during its AIPA Presidency in 2020 and in hosting the AIPA-41 left deep impressions on AIPA member parliaments and observer countries.

In letters sent to N.A. Chairwoman and AIPA-41 President Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, President of the N.A. of Thailand Chuan Leekpai, President of the Storting of Norway Tone Wilhelmsen Troen, and Speaker of the House of Representatives of Morocco Habib El Malki thanked the Vietnamese N.A. for its efforts to assist their parliaments in attending this historic event.

They also highly valued the Vietnamese N.A.’s capability of organizing the AIPA 41 online.

The President of the Storting of Norway emphasized the close directions of the Vietnamese top legislator as well as the professional preparations of the Vietnamese lawmakers, which have contributed to the success of this important event.

These top legislators underlined that the theme “Parliamentary Diplomacy for Cohesive and Responsive ASEAN Community” of AIPA Year 2020 is significant to the region and suitable with parliamentary organizations all over the world.

They also confirmed that the AIPA-41 gave participating lawmakers a chance to have straightforward and effective discussions. It also reflected AIPA member parliaments’ strong will and efforts to support ASEAN member governments in overcoming difficulties, controlling the COVID-19 pandemic, and boosting cooperation and development in the ASEAN Community.

They expressed their strong belief that the AIPA-41’s achievements will help strengthen the existing ties among AIPA members and relations between AIPA member parliaments and ASEAN.

Also in the letter, President of the N.A. of Thailand Chuan Leekpai believed that such cooperative connectivity will contribute to lifting the ASEAN Community to a new height.

On the occasion, President of the Storting of Norway Tone Wilhelmsen Troen and Speaker of the House of Representatives of Morocco Habib El Malki thanked the Vietnamese N.A. for admitting the House of Representatives of Morocco and the Storting of Norway as AIPA’s observers. They believed that their new positions will create a driving force for the cooperation between their parliaments and AIPA members.
