PANO – The International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) on September 2nd held a flag-raising ceremony of Vietnam in Monaco to admit Vietnam as its 84th official member.

Present at the event were Rear Admiral Pham Xuan Diep, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Vietnam People’s Navy, representatives from the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and defence agencies, IHO President Robert Ward and other IHO officials in Monaco.
Vietnam’s membership of the IHO demonstrates the Vietnamese Party and State’s guidelines and policies on international integration and marks a new milestone in the history of development of the Vietnam People’s Navy and Vietnam’s hydrographic sector in particular.
By joining the organization, Vietnam has pledged to fully implement all regulations of the IHO Convention, make contributions to ensuring maritime security and safety in the region and the world, and cooperate with other IHO members with the motto of becoming a reliable partner and responsible member of the international community.
