A Vietnamese delegation led by Deputy Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh attended a ministerial conference of the Joint Coordinating Committee of the Non-Aligned Movement (NOAL) in Cuba on April 29-30.
Mr Minh called on NOAL member countries to pursue the lofty goals and principles of the organisation, fight unilateralism and trade protectionism and strive to build international relations and global economic and financial structure in a fair and healthy manner. He said that developing countries should raise their voice to be treated equally and entitled to access markets and investment sources.
As a member of the United Nations Security Council, Vietnam has tried to raise the organisation’s voice and role in settling global issues, said Mr Minh.
The conference brought together 118 delegates from NOAL member countries and guests from more than 40 countries and international organisations.
Delegates reviewed the organisation’s activities and discussed measures to increase cooperation, as well as preparations for its 15th summit to be held in Sharm el Sheik, Egypt, in July.
