Vietnam actively makes preparations for non-permanent seat at UNSC
PANO - The Spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry of Vietnam Le Thi Thu Hang answered reporters’ queries about Vietnam’s priorities when it is elected as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for the 2020-2021 period and its preparations to undertake the role, at a regular press conference of the ministry on June 6.

Hang said that on June 7 this year, the United Nations General Assembly will elect five new non-permanent members of the UNSC for the 2020-2021 term with Vietnam as the only candidate of the Asia-Pacific region.
She went on, after the election results are announced, Vietnamese leaders will publicize the country’s priorities during its term of office.
Vietnam has actively made preparations of contents, resources, personnel, and disseminated information, built coordination mechanisms among related UN agencies, as well as consulted with and exchanged experience with other UN member states, UN agencies and international research organizations to get ready for its membership of the UNSC in the 2020-2021 term, Hang said.
