Malaysian PM calls for partnership in anti-terrorism fight
Malaysian Prime Minister (PM) Najib Razak on May 20 called for a new partnership between the Muslim world and the US to fight against terrorism.
“It is up to all of us at this summit to forge this partnership, and prove, once and for all, that there is no clash of civilizations, with the Muslim world on the one side and the West on the other,” he wrote in a statement published in Al Riyadh newspaper of Saudi Arabia on the threshold on the US-Arab Islamic Summit.

“There is only a clash with civilization, and on that we all – members of all religions – must stand united together as one; firm, determined, and ready to act,” he wrote.
The PM expressed his belief that the summit represents an important attempt to bring ties between the Muslim world and the US to new levels, noting that with even greater mutual understanding, they can work together all the better to fight the ignorance, exclusion and sense of grievance that can fuel violent extremism.
PM Najib is in Saudi Arabia to attend the US-Arab Islamic summit, which gathers leaders from 54 countries over the world, including US President Donald Trump.
