PANO - The Japanese government on December 9th agreed to provide non-refundable aid of US $646,517 for seven projects in Southern and Central Highlands provinces and cities of Vietnam.
The agreements, under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots and Human Security Projects (GGP), were signed by the Japanese Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, Nakajima Satoshi, and representatives of Dak Nong, Kien Giang, An Giang and Long An provinces and Can Tho city.

Accordingly, the Japanese government will provide funds for projects to build five classrooms in Hoa My primary school in Quang Tam commune, Tuy Duc district, Dak Nong province, six classrooms for Vinh Hoa Hung Nam 2 Primary School in Kien Giang province’s Go Quao district, and rural bridges in Can Tho city’s localities.
Besides, Japan will grant financial assistance to An Giang province’s An Phu district General Hospital, Kien Giang’s An Minh General Hospital and Long An province’s Vinh Hung district Medical Centre to buy medical equipment to better care for patients.
At the signing ceremony, representatives from provinces and city thanked the Japanese government for its support, helping them better care for needy people and ethnic and mountainous ones.
Since 1995, the Japanese government has provided financial assistance for 140 education, health, agriculture and rural infrastructure projects in 26 provinces and cities in the South, making contributions to raising people’s living standards.
