A meeting was held in northern Tuyen Quang province on July 25-26 on the occasion of the 61st anniversary of the attack on Moncada Barracks (July 26) that led to the victory of Cuban armed forces against the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista.

Speaking at the event, which was jointly organised by the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association and the province, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Vu Thi Bich Viet recalled the two countries’ traditional friendship that had been nurtured by late President Ho Chi Minh and leader Fidel Castro.

Vietnamese people, including those in Tuyen Quang, always remember and are grateful for Cuba’s valuable support for Vietnam’s past struggle for national liberation as well as its current national construction and defence.

Liurka Rodríguez Barrios, Chargé d’ Affaires at the Cuban Embassy, spoke highly of the relations between Vietnam and Cuba, saying that after each visit by their high-ranking officials, the two countries’ ties have been further consolidated.
