Viet Nam has recorded many important achievements in promoting human rights, affirmed David Robinson from the Australian Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission.
At a seminar entitled "Viet Nam and international conventions on human rights" held in Ha Noi on Jan. 22, Robinson said Viet Nam has actively participated in the international human rights system.
In particular, Viet Nam's Constitution includes important provisions of human rights protection, he noted, adding that the country has committed to abide by the international conventions on human rights through its signed documents.
Assistant to Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh stressed that Viet Nam has constantly exerted its efforts to finalise its legal system, build institutions and policies for exercising human rights and promote education on respecting human rights.
Viet Nam's efforts in implementing international conventions on human rights are recognised and highly appreciated by different committees that supervise the implementation of convention on human rights, the assistant minister added.
