PANO - The French Agence Française de Développement (AFD) in Hanoi held a press conference to review its operation in 2014 in particular and over the past 20 years in Vietnam in general.
At a press conference, AFD Director Rémi Genevey affirmed that Vietnam has been one of AFD’s foremost partners with €1.6 billion of financial commitments for 79 ongoing or completed projects since 1994.

In 2014 alone, the agency disbursed €111 million to some projects, such as the pilot project of Hanoi Metro Line 3, the support program responding to climate change (SP-RCC 5), and the restoration program of the Ngu Ha canal and Hue citadel (SIAPP Hue).
AFD will continue supporting Vietnam in macro-economy, sustainable urban development, rural fundamental construction, and climate change mitigation.
As a public development institution, AFD has been working for more than 70 years toward poverty alleviation and promoting development in countries of the Global South and overseas territories. It operates on policies decided by the government of France. With a field presence in over 50 countries, AFD provides funding and coaching for projects that improve the living conditions of people, support economic growth, and protect the planet.
