Two foreign teachers walk from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City for charity
PANO - Two foreign teachers, Jake Norris, aged 36 from Australia, and Sean Down, aged 44 from Ireland, will start a 2,000-km walk to raise funds for needy children in Vietnam.
Accordingly, Jake and Sean will spend three months walking 2,000 kilometers from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City. The two foreign teachers hoped that the walk will raise about USD 200,000 (equivalent to more than VND 4.8 billion) to support Blue Dragon Children's Foundation - a charity that helps street kids and rescues victims from slavery and human trafficking in Vietnam, and Thanh Loc project - a charitable organization.

The Embassy of Australia is the sponsor for the walk of the two teachers, showing Australia's commitment to the fight against human trafficking. It is also part of activities to celebrate the 50th founding anniversary of Vietnam-Australia diplomatic ties.
As planned, Jake and Sean will depart from the Hanoi Opera House on December 2, following Ho Chi Minh Trail to Ho Chi Minh City.
Teacher Sean shared that one of the reasons why they have chosen a difficult and rugged path far away from highways are to have more experiences and integrate into the local community.
During the journey, the two teachers intend to visit orphanages, relief centers for animals, and interact with local people.
